Short ork painting guide

Yesterday I was painting some of my Ork and the idea of a painting guide popped into my head. So 'ere we go!

Required tools
- 1 brush, size 0 (Brushes start from 000, then 00, 0, 1, 2, and up. The higher the number, the bigger or wider the brush.). I find the size 0 brush just small enough for little details but not too small to paint the whole model.
- Paint: The colors I use from my Orks are: Goblin Green, Chaos Black, Dark Green Ink, Boltgun Metal, Snakebite Leather, Red, Black Ink.
- A flat working surface that may get dirty.
- Good place to sit.
- Cup of water.
- Some paper towels to dry your brush on.

Step 1

Step 1
I always start with coating my models using Citadel's undercoat. I prefer black over white because I usually do not bother about painting hard to reach spots. If they are black and do not attract attention on the model it's fine.
The first layer of paint will be green for the skin. Goblin green to be more precise.

Step 2

Step 2
To make the muscles more visible apply dark green ink over the skin.

Step 3

Step 3
Clothing is next. Snakebite leather looks good. The straps and boots stay black.

Step 4

Step 4
Boltgun metal is a good base color for the choppa slugga and helmet. This is also a good time to make the eyes red. Then do the dry brushing of the skin with Goblin Green. If you made any mistakes while painting the eyes you can now fix them with the dry brush.

Step 5

Step 5
Get more a strong shadow effect apply black ink on everything except for the skin.

Step 6

Step 6
Dry brushing! Be sure to have a real dry brush before touching your model with it. Goal of dry-brushing is that you color certain parts of the surface and leave the shodows in tact. You can always add more paint later. After dry-brushing add the details like teeth, earrings and nails. Then finish the model by add flock to the base.
